ACell® and PRP for Hair Restoration
What is ACell?
ACell is an FDA approved cellular regeneration product used in wound healing that has recently been combined with a patient’s own stem cells. ACell PRP has shown to improve hair regrowth for both men and women.
How is ACell used in Hair Restoration?
ACell is combined with PRP (platelet rich plasma) and injected into the scalp. The application of ACell + PRP causes miniaturized hair follicles to become healthier and larger, producing more robust hair growth. ACell activates follicular progenitor cells (adult stem cells) and PRP is loaded with growth factors that promote rapid angiogenesis and localized cell growth.
Effective for both male and female pattern hair loss, ACell + PRP has also regrown hair in alopecia areata (male pattern baldness), eyebrow hypotrichosis and other cases of non-hereditary hair loss.
Q: How does ACell work?
A: When suspended in a PRP concentration and injected into the scalp, ACell activates adult stem cells in scalp tissue. ACell utilizes the body’s own tissue regeneration mechanism to stimulate the growth centers in the hair follicles, strengthening miniaturized hairs.
Who can benefit from ACell technology?
Men and women over the age of 18 are candidates for ACell + PRP Injection Therapy. Individuals who are early in the progression of hair loss can benefit from ACell + PRP to protect their hair from future loss and renew dormant follicles to replenish hair density, ultimately postponing the need for surgical treatment.
ACell PRP hair restoration technology improves the outcome of a surgical transplant, yielding increased graft survival, improved donor scar healing, and faster recovery. ACell + PRP are indicated for all surgical restorations as the optimal solution for healing.
Individuals with an exhausted donor supply or poor quality donor hair also benefit from the application of ACell+PRP as an option without the need for more surgery.
Q: Is an ACell treatment worthwhile?
A: ACell + PRP Therapy protects hair from additional shedding, renews miniaturizing hairs for improved growth, and restores hair quality and quantity for patients with thinning hair. ACell+PRP is applicable for:
- Male and Female hereditary hair loss
- Alopecia Areata
- Hypotrichosis (Decreased hair growth) of the eyebrows

Q: How soon can I get in for an ACell Injection appointment?
A: ACell + PRP Therapy Injection appointments are typically about one week out for availability. ACell appointments require only 90 minutes for a full scalp treatment, and 60 minutes for an eyebrow treatment.
Q: What should I expect after an ACell treatment?
A: There may be some mild to moderate scalp discomfort for a day or two after treatment. Post procedure instructions are thorough so you can be prepared to relax and be comfortable at home. Some swelling in the forehead is not uncommon and may be visible to others for 2-3 days. Patients who are concerned about this will schedule their treatment on a Thursday or Fridayso they can recover over the weekend. There will not be any visible signs immediately after your treatment.
After an ACell injection, it is important to allow your body the necessary recovery time. Ideally, this means avoiding exercise for the first 24 hours. Resuming normal activity 2 days post treatment is fine. Read patient testimonials about the Acell+PRP procedure experience.
Q: How soon will I see results and how long will they last?
A: New hair growth becomes visible in most cases within 4-6 months after ACell and PRP Injection procedure. Hair continues to thicken over a period of 12-15 months. These results last for months, and even years, before regression may begin to occur.
